3pm-10pm everyday.
Storyboxes
Storyboxes are a wonderful resource for teachers, librarians and home schooling groups. These themed storytimes in a box include six books, two laminated activity sheets and sometimes a puppet or other manipulative. Storyboxes
may be checked out for one week at a time and may be renewed if available.
Storyboxes may be ordered online up to six months in advance. The limit is two boxes
per card at a time and only adults may check storyboxes out.Storyboxes are not meant for home use (see our description of Discovery Packs for families).
Learning Kits Learning kits are a great way to introduce a title to your classroom.
These kits contain a paperback book, a laminated activity sheet related to the
book and a manipulative. Learning kits are great for teachers, librarians and
home school groups.

Learning Kits can be checked out for one week at a time and may be renewed if
available. The limit is one(1) per card at a time on an adult card. Sorry,
but learning kits are not meant for home use.
American
Sign Language Videos Over 200 videos, including dozens of lessons
and demonstrations of how to sign, are now located at the Brown Library and are
available to cardholders in the public libraries that make up the North Central
District. In addition
to instructional videos, the collection also has videos that address health, parenting
and life skills issues: others that tell the history and biography of deaf people;
translations of classic literature and children's stories; original ASL
poetry, drama, stories and humor, and inspirational titles.
Big
Books Big books are great for teachers, librarians and home school groups. Big
books may be checked out for one week at a time and may be renewed if available.
The limit is seven (7) big books per card at a time on an adult card. We
are sorry, but big books are not meant for home use.
Teacher
Collection Did you know that there is a special section dedicated just
to teachers in the Youth Services Department? The call number is J PS and
the resources can help you find themes, activities, crafts, books, curriculum
information and more. Check it out on your next visit. Public
Performance videos When you visit the Youth Services Department you may
notice the red and yellow strips of tape on our videos. These colors indicate
whether a video has a public performance status. If the video has a yellow strip
of tape teachers may request upon checking out that they be allowed to keep the
video for one week instead of two days. This rule also applies to the non-fiction
videos in Youth Services. If you have questions, don't hesitate to ask when you
visit us next. Award
Winners What do the Newbery, Caldecott and Coretta Scott King Awards have
in common? Well in the Youth Services Department what they have in common is that
they are marked on the spine of the book. These award books have an orange sticker
on them with the name of the award and the year the book won. We think this makes
it easier to identify those must read titles.
