Job Club Fridays from 1 PM until 4 PM.
Job Club is a forum for all ‘Supported Work’ participants (referred from the County Assistance Office) to learn the rudiments of obtaining and retaining employment.
The availability of the Learning Center computers will enable participants to access O’Net, which is an online survey that assists participants in identifying interests, relative to general occupational areas and specific jobs. Participants will also be able to access numerous job-related websites, including the Ferguson’s Career Center which is available on the eBranch
Information to be covered: Resume writing, Cover letters, Interviewing Skills, Networking, Thank you letters, and Follow-up tips, along with proactive job search measures.
Classroom discussions will include: the importance of attitude, how to dress for success, exploring temporary employment agencies, developing skill cards, and much more.
The forum will also allow for one-on-one interaction between the instructor and individual participants to develop specific, individualized job search strategies.

Lycoming County's Adult Literacy and Lifelong Learning Program
The Learning Center serves many students:
• adults who do not read and write at a 5th grade level
• parents who want to have the reading & writing skills to help their children in school
• adults speaking other languages who want to learn English
• persons preparing for college entrance exams, GED exams or armed forces exams
• workers seeking to learn new on the job skills
An adult education student and tutor work together at The
Learning Center
Working to equip our county’s adults – many of them parents - with the basic literacy skills they need to be better family members, workers and community members. The Learning Center is a state certified adult basic education provider.
Services are free and include: one on one tutoring small group studies, math and writing assistance, a comprehensive computer lab, Family Literacy programs, English as a second language and Workplace skills programs.
The Learning Center is
•a space – a comfortable place to meet and learn at 19 East Fourth Street in downtown Williamsport, third floor of the Welch Children's Wing at the James V. Brown Library.
• a staff of helpful friendly trained coaches and instructors
• a spirit - a corps of volunteers committed to helping the learner become more confident about their abilities to meet their goals.
The Learning Center is a service of the
Lycoming County Library
System and is a
United Way agency.
