Bookmobile Cell Phone - 419-0013

In 1939 the first Bookmobile from the James V. Brown Library was on the road. Bookmobiles have changed a lot since then and so has our service, but one thing has always remained constant, we are bringing the library to you. Today we are on the road 7 days a week on alternate weeks.

Thanks to the Marguerite Carl Smith Foundation for their continuing support for Sunday stops.

The Bookmobile travels to remote areas of Lycoming County to provide library materials and services to communities that do not have immediate access to a nearby library.

Regular stops include elementary schools, local shopping areas, township buildings, churches, fire halls, and civic centers.

The Bookmobile contains a permanent circulating collection. These materials include adult and children's books, DVDs, magazines. Materials, such as audio books may be requested from other libraries but not feature films DVDs.

  • Books can be renewed by calling the library and leaving a message at the bookmobile office. Please leave your name, card number, book names, and barcode numbers.
  • You can also renew your books by providing the same information by E-Mail.

Bookmobile Information and Policies

Library Cards

  • You may apply for a card on the bookmobile. There is no charge for your first card and replacements cost $2.
  • You must have your card with you to check items out, but you do not need it to return items.
  • You should have only one library card. It is good at all libraries and bookmobiles in Lycoming County. If you have more than one, bring them in and we will correct this.

Checking out and Returning Materials

  • You're responsible for all materials charged to your card.
  • All items are checked out to you for two weeks.
  • Books that are not on reserve may be renewed three times by calling the library and leaving a message on the bookmobile voice mail. (326-0536 ext. 120 - voice mail),  or you may bring the books to the bookmobile. Please do not renew the materials online.
  • DVDs may not be renewed. You may check out three DVDs. Only six movies may be on each card.
  • Reserves may be placed on books and will be held for two weeks.
  • Please return all materials to the bookmobile by the due date.
  • When stops are cancelled due to weather or mechanical problems, materials due that day will be renewed and no fines charged.
